Please open Disk Management and check if the drive has a correct file format and a drive letter. If the drive has no format or it appears as RAW, there may be an issue with the drive. Using the Attrib command was a really good idea. Sometimes it solves problems with hidden files, but in those cases the capacity of the drive is correctly recognized.
I would recommend you to test the device on another PC and with another USB cable. If the problem persists, but you need the files stored on the drive, download a data recovery tool and try to save the most important data. I leave you a link with some software suggestions:
