Monitor says no signal

Hello,
I just hooked up a new acer monitor- windows came up and I logged into email. Then an error came up on the screen and the system shut down. Now it won't let me log back in and says no signal?? Please advise.

what happens when you reinstall the OLD monitor?

The old monitor did the same thing, which is why we purchased the new monitor

no signal indicates the cable has a problem or the computer is not sending a signal to the monitor. Does the computer have both a video card and a motherboard integrated video chip? If so, you can try using the second video source. After trying those things you will probably need to send it to a PC repair shop for diagnosis.
