Restoring gateway 400 laptop to factory settings

Hello,

i am trying to factory restore my gateway 400 laptop..that is running windows xp sp 1? its somewhat prehistoric but what i have to work with right now. i dont have any software for either windows or gateway? are there some steps i can do at startup to get into a factory restore mode? thank you
