Hello hannah 25,
So, when you enter the password evеrything is just black and nothing can be seen on the display? Do you see the cursor blinking?
My advice for you is to restart the laptop and press the respective F key to enter the BIOS menu. Then, go to the boot options and check of the hard drive is set on the first place in the boot priority. If there's a need to set, make a selection on the drive and save this setting. Restart the lappy once again.
