Hey ok so my very old Toshiba laptop i've had for about 3-4 years now but it was my brothers before mine. The mouse appears when i am logging in but the second i get to the home screen it either disappears completely or it's just frozen. The laptop itself is still functioning and receiving notifications, it's just the mousepad that's stopped working for me. I've tried ctrl+f5, fn+f5, ctrl+alt+del and still nothing works?? help please!

Well, a quick, simple and cheap fix would be to get a USB mouse and use it!

Boot in safe mode and see if it still occurs. If it does, then it is hardware related. If it doesn't then there is something mangled. Boot it up and get a command prompt, and run SFC /SCANNOW

Give that a try!
