Bomb Rush Cyberfunk and other best graffiti games (2023)

Have you always dreamed of becoming a street artist, but never dared to pick up a can of bright paint? And what if you play graffiti in the virtual world? Here we bring for you our top most original and exciting graffiti video games.

Video games have become an inspiration for many artists, and street artists have not been left behind. For example, Tetris and Minecraft gave rise to a whole genre of graffiti stickers, and Banksy dedicated one of his works to Mario from Super Mario Bros. But at the same time, graffiti aesthetics and the very process of creating street art could not help but migrate to video games.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk

If you love graffiti video games and are nostalgic for the 2020 Sega game 2000 Jet Set Radio, then the just released adventure platformer Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is definitely for you! It's even been called an unofficial sequel to Jet Set Radio, and indeed it borrows from the prototype's skateboarding, graffiti painting, dancing, gameplay elements, and signature cel-shaded graphics. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk was developed and published by the Dutch studio Team Reptile, known for the game Lethal League. It was released on August 18, 2023 for Microsoft Windows and Nintendo Switch and September 1, 2023 for PlayStation and Xbox.

You play as one of the members of the youth gang Bomb Rush Crew, who on skateboards, roller skates or BMX bikes must navigate the neighborhoods of the fictional metropolis of New Amsterdam, competing with other city gangs and trying to avoid falling into the hands of the police. The goal is to place graffiti on buildings and take control of the entire city, and all this through movement, stunts, spraying paint from cans, dancing. Plus, you get a complex plot with relationships between gang members that still need to be revealed. The new game has also added a dystopian element: the action takes place in a fictitious future where people use a variety of implants that give them the ability to swap parts of their bodies. Sounds wild and exciting! It is also worth noting the excellent music created by independent musicians including Hideki Naganuma, composer of the Jet Set Radio series.

Kingspray Graffiti VR

In this VR game you will find graffiti and nothing more than graffiti. But with stunning realism in this simulator, you can feel like a real urban artist without leaving your PC, the only condition being that you have a VR headset. Kingspray Graffiti VR supports online multiplayer mode and you can create pieces of urban art with up to three others. At your disposal are different locations, textures of walls and surfaces, splashes, drops and other functions and effects.

Sideway: New York

Sideway: New York is another PlayStation and PC adventure platform game that takes you to the streets of New York. You need to navigate and solve puzzles on the edge of the 2nd and 3rd dimensional planes, and it will definitely make your head spin. The dimensional game ties into the game's plot, as the main character, street artist Knox, struggles with his alter ego Spray, who seeks to break through from the 2D to the 3D world. During this confrontation, Knox himself turns into the spray paint he used to paint the walls... It sounds surreal, but believe me, it's worth it! Here you will also find bizar boss encounters, spray cans and other items to be collected. The game also supports full local drop-in/drop-out co-op play.

Concrete Genie

An action game Concrete Genie was released in 2019 exclusively for PlayStation 4 and requires the use of a DualShock 4. The player plays as street artist Ash, who paints abandoned houses and warehouses, and his works come to life and accompany him as he wanders around the city. He is confronted by bullies who seek to humiliate Ash and destroy his work. You must save the hero and complete his mission.

Vandaleak - Sprays & Grafitti

Admit it, when you are traveling by train and see bright grafitti along the way, do you have a desire to draw something in the same spirit? A mobile game for Android and iOS will allow you to unleash your dormant creative potential, but in it you will not find any battles or an adventure plot. The game offers you a choice of different types and models of trains and carriages, on which you can create your street art works using a palette of colors and other settings and effects. You can then save and share your works on social networks and anywhere else.

Vivesprey 2

To play ViveSpray on your PC you will need a virtual reality headset such as Oculus Rift, Valve Index, Windows Mixed Reality or HTC Vive. This graffiti simulator is close to real wall painting as possible. Here you can choose spray cans with different paints and customize spray flow and radius, make droplets, use drying wall effect and much more. A GTX 1070 or higher graphics card is recommended for this game.

Sludge Life

Sludge Life isn't just an indie game, but rather a piece of art: this first-person adventure platformer was created by the rapper, one of the founders of "Anticon" music label Adam "Doseone" Drucker and artist Terri Wellmann and released in 2020 along with a soundtrack EP and digital album. You are a street parkour artist who must climb the structures of a fictional oil rig and overcome obstacles in search of new tags in an effort to win the recognition of his fellow artists. The open world of the game allows you to engage in various activities during your mission, and various objects and tools help you on your journey: a camera, a glider, a teleportation device and even "vandal eyes", which are stored in a jar and always point to the nearest mark.
