Acer Aspire 5253 internet connectivity issue

Hello,

Acer Aspire 5253.
Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter for wireless
Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet for wired

Drivers are up to date.

Router functioning. Other devices fine. Acer can find the network and lists as connected, but with the yellow exclamation point showing problems. Acer can find networks (not just this one).

Yesterday it randomly reconnected after about half an hour of futzing.

Today is off again.

Have tried:
Shutting off network, then full shut down, followed by restart
Connecting via Ethernet
Connecting to LAN
Following many people’s seemingly random instructions for unchecking boxes, disabling stuff, etc.

Laptop is about 5 years old.

OK, so even though you will connect via ethernet, will it still drop out?
