Monitor giving me 'no signal!

I bought a computer (PC) a month ago and I was to used it yesterday and they monitor is displaying no signal. Pls what should I do

Make certain the monitor is plugged into power. Make certain the video cable is secure in the video port.
Make certain power is on.

Many consider a laptop a personal computer. Just wished to check for your future guidance.
