could be several things:
1) ethernet drivers are not loaded for ethernet card
2) need to load software for your modem
3) loose cables
4) loose power cords
5) defective modem
6) need to make a new network connection, pc may not have an established network connection made
7) tcp/ip settings may be incorrect
these are all just guesses or things you might check. maybe you could send more in depth details. hope this helps a little. good luck :)
