This has most certainly to do with missing preinstalled software on your ASUS. Just go to the Asus website, find your laptop model, and download the preinstalled software bundle which is destined for your laptop.
You can alternatively use your the CD with which your computer came (if you still have it). Look for a program called something like Asus control center or hot keys.

but then I realized there was an old version of ATK in my programs. Having uninstalled the old ATK, I intsalled the newly downloaded ATK and subsequently restart laptop.
It finally works =)
