Connot access connection

my bsnl 3g netsetter didnt work on my windows8 OS. the error msg was 'THE SYSTEM COULD NOT FIND PHONE BOOK ENTRY FOR THIS CONNECTION"
I've tried the solution given-select the option of compatibility troubleshouter. It test the program with wndows XP (Service Pack 3) and when the program works save the settings. Next time it will use the settings.
but still I couldn't access the internet. this time the error msg was-'ppp link cntrl protocol was terminated"
plz help me...
