Recently my laptop got virus and I send it to the shop to format it. When I got it and want to put my stuff back, it doesn't detect my external hard disk. Surprisingly though it can detect pen drive. When I put my external hard disk on my desktop PC, it worked so the problem is with the laptop. Also the USB is 2.0 and my window is 7 premium.

Any suggestion to fix it?

Hi SpudRum,

I recommend you to go to Disk Management and check if the drive is detected there. Does it have a file format and a drive letter? If the drive is missing, go to Device Manager. The drive should be listed under the USB devices. Uninstall it, restart the PC and plug the hard drive back in. The OS should reinstall the drivers. Is there any change?

Hope this helps
