I discovered my HD (WD elements 1tb external) in my bag and its lid was a bit open
I pressed it back in place and connected it to the laptop
The light is on, but it's making hard spinning sounds
And it isn't responding
I would appreciate any help, as it has a lot of my research data.

Hi Deepshe,

I’m sorry for those connectivity issues. Do you think that the drive may have suffered some physical damage? If so, there may be some mechanical issue and those sounds may indicate it too. I would recommend you to try the drive with another USB cable and on another PC. Open Disk Management and check if the drive is visible and it has drive letter and correct file format. If it has a drive letter, try using the chkdsk H: /r command from the Command Prompt, where H should be your drive letter.

Hope this helps
