Thanks for your quick reply, my operating systems WindowsVista Home Basic
I've tried Firefox of course and alsoGoogle Chrome but in each case I get a
Server not Found message
I use virginmedia and I know that the Internet is connecting as I am able to use my IPad and my mobile tells it is connected to the Internet.
When I try to connect on my lap top nothing happens

I have changed the title of your thread.
Try this:
Go to command prompt
In the Black Command Box Type: netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Hit Enter Key
Restart the computer and try to log in and browse the Internet.
If the problem persists, continue using these steps.
In command prompt
In Black Command Box Type: netsh winsock reset
Hit Enter Key
Restart Computer
