Hello,

All of a sudden my Seagate external drive is not connecting to my MacBook Pro. I've purchased a new USB to Micro B cable, but that didn't work. The light is blinking fast, not making any sounds at all. I contacted Seagate, no warranty and they said to take it to a repair shop.

I don't even have 2GB on this drive and can't believe it's already dead. I've read a number of posts about fixes, but they are all for Windows. Anybody have a solution for a Mac? Thanks in advance

System Configuration: Macintosh / Safari 12.1.1

Hello, firstly try resetting your NVRAM.
  • Turn off your Mac, and then turn it back on.
  • Immediately press and hold: command+option+P+R

You need to press and hold these 4 keys before seeing the grey startup screen.
  • Keep holding down the keys, your Mac will restart during this process on its own.
  • When you hear the second startup sound, release the keys.
  • Your Mac will finish starting up - your NVRAM has now been reset.

Doing this will help rule out any random error stopping your Hard drive from being seen by your Mac.

If that didn't work, you can try using the Disk Utility tool to look for the HD, and also the FirstAid tool that will help repair any damage.

Regards
