Hi,
Remove the AC adapter and the battery. Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds to drain residual electricity, then replace the battery and the adapter and try starting your laptop.

I tried that from your previous comment. But it made no difference. I found a slack battery terminal and fixed that. Now I have led no2 and 5 lighting but all I get is the CPU getting almost 40C hot and the fan is not coming on. Does that sound like the mobo is shot? Thanks for your help.

If the CPU fan won't spin, it could be related to the motherboard or directly the fan itself. You should also try removing the battery and starting your laptop only with the charger and see what happens.
