Hi!
it happened to me once...and my screen turned blue.. This was when my pc crashed, but if it turns black i don't think it crashed.. I would have told you to restart the machine completely but you already said you reboot it...maybe all you have to do now is remove the hard disk and try to retrieve all the data you need and format your pc dear... :(
