Lap top won't connect to the internet?

My lap top, although connected, won't let me browse the net. It says I have "local access only" I'm currently on my father's computer which is directly connected to the router, so it's just my lap top that's having difficulty. Neither computer has any viruses (it's scanned on a daily basis.) Also, the lap top runs Vista. Should I try and reset the IP address? Is there anything else I should try? Thanks!

Hye there,

On your laptop, click on start, run > type: CMD

Type: Ipconfig /release

then type: Ipconfig /renew
