Problems with a MAC

Hello,
Everyone is posting for a PC. Unfortunatly that does not help me. I ned help with a mac. My 500GB western digital external hard drive is not registering on my mac. My lacie is, but not my new drive. It turns on then off, then nothing. HELP! I am on a MAC, not PC.

Hello Sir,

If this hard drive has been used on a PC you won't be able to open it on MAC,

To open you will need to format it on your MAC pc before using it!

I dont have a PC. The drive is new. i just opened it. Bought it at Best Buy. Plugged it in to my mac and nothing happened. It does not register it at all. I even tried USB cord and also firwire. There is no CD with it to install.

And Also it is compatible to a MacOS 10.4.11, which is what I have.
