Hello,
My computer won't even start up and keeps on restarting. So I called dell and they told me that I have to buy a new windows xp disc. But if I purchase the disc and use it on my computer it will delete all my files and documents. How do I save a back up when my computer won't start up.

You will need to install the hard disk into another computer to back up the data. You can buy a USB external drive adapter to make the connection.

Read what it wrote! You need another computer to backup the data.

You open up two Explorer windows, one on the C drive of the new computer and one on the newly made external drive. You click on My Computer and navigate to the C drive and then resize the window to the right side of the screen. You then click again on MY Computer and navigate to the external drive. You again resize the Explorer windows to fit on the left side of the screen.

You then "drag and drop" to copy the files from one drive to another.

Good Luck
