How to reinstall my windows vista

Hello,

I was told by dell that I will need to reinstall my operating system which is windows vista. When I turn on my pc it goes to the welcome blue screen and the circle keeps turning and then to a black screen that only shows the white pointer.... I have put the reinstall disk in in hopes that would automatically do it with no sucess..... Help!

You can try to press F12 (multiple times) during the boot process. That should give you the "one-time-boot-menu". You then select the CD drive (where you have the restore disk). That should direct the PC to boot from the CD and install Windows.
