Opening attachments

Hello,
I recently was opening an attachment and it asked how to open. I stupidly put with word. It won't open hardly anything now. It tries and it just comes out a bunch of letters and symbols. It won't give me the option to pick how I open any more. How can I get it changed back to normal....and what is the norm?

hi there,

right click on it and

pin to open with and select software

and press ok
