Hello, i have had a problem with my sony vaio PCG-GRX516SP laptop it works fine with an external monitor but the LCD screen seems to have a problem with the backlight?
I can get it to work for a short time by flicking the lid switch (almost like a flouresent starter switch).
The screen is made by Hitachi and is very expensive to replace.
Can anyone help me and suggest another way to fix it?.

The backlight or the "inverter" that powers it can be fixed independently of the LCD screen
