Linksys router password

When I type in the password for my Linksys router as "admin", as I have been told to do, it comes up 401 unauthorized. I've tried typing in other passwords, but I keep getting the same thing. I don't remember changing the password. Is there anyway I can find out what the password is, or any other way of resetting it without having to reset the router, as I'm afraid of losing my settings if I do this, and causing more problems for myself?!

If you have forgotten the password, think you need to reset it to default setting and log in again. Here is how to Linksys router to modem and do wireless router configuration.

Linksys Router
default username:(leave it blank)
password:admin

try password, if that fails take screen shots of your settings then reset.
