No Internet connection with new laptop

Hello,
I just got a Acer laptop with windows 7, and connot connect to the internet via hard wire or wireless. I have no problems connecting with my Desk top. I also got a NETGEAR router that is setup correctly. My ISP is Comcast and they are not providing any solutions when talking with customer support. I have an appointment with them next week for a technician to come to my house, but I would like to seek help sooner. Anyone who can share advice or experienced similar porblems please help.

I think if we think 3 thing we can solve problem 1/ once atime re install wireless driver .2/ check your modeam device configuraatin is correct 3/ ur computer modeam isnot damage?
