Hello,

I got the newer Toshiba laptop running Windows Vista.

I used up my free subscription to McAfee and uninstalled it. I downloaded AVG free and tried to install it. I got an error message saying it wasn't recommended to have more than one anti-virus/security program installed.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what to try?

Thanks.

Best choice is to use AVAST. It is free, runs well on MS Vista and XP without slowing the thing down.

yes indeed the AVAST is a great antivirus, if you want to turned off just go to start search and type services.msc
and look on the list anything about MC afee select the appropriate ones and right click and choose stop the service.
