Hello,

I was working on my laptop and a window opened saying something about windows update. I didn't pay much attention but figured it had been a while since I updated so said OK. I set the laptop on a coffee table and ended up falling asleep in my chair for a couple of hours.

When I woke up it said something about restarting the computer, so I clicked OK, sat back in my comfy chair and fell asleep again. When I woke up again, the screen that showed my user was displayed and I figured I wouldn't have to go into a user account so just shut down from there. Now I have no sound.

This laptop is a Compag I bought a year ago from Best Buy with Windows Vista on it. It it came with software, which I'm sure it had to, I can't find it now. This is Home Premium. I do have Vista Business for a desktop computer. Can I use that to install sound? Any suggestions? If you have an answer for me, please don't get too technical, I'm not computer savvy.
Thanks for take the time to read this and for any future suggestion.

Sorry, didn't work. I went to the date 10-3, but it said that it didn't make any changes. Any more suggestions?

Try a date before.

If always doesn't work u'll have to re-install ur sound card.

U"ll find the driver u need here http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=fr&cc=fr&prodNameId=96514&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=96216&swLang=17&taskId=135&swEnvOID=20
... or tell the name (e.g. dv6000t) of ur Compaq and I"ll give u the link to download the driver.
