No sound coming out of a program

Hi all, i really have a trouble.
Why there's no sound coming out of my video editing program?
I use Pinnacle Studio Plus and Windows Movie Maker but there's no sound coming out.
Somebody please help me?

HI there,

If not using the mentioned software,do you get sound from mp3 file or audio cd?

yes, everything is alright..the speakers work, i also can play mp3/other music files from windows media player. but when i edited some video on pinnacle or any other video editing program, there's no sound coming out. i've tried to figure out the program itself and..it still doesn't work.
any ideas?
