Sony vaio problems

hey,
i have a sony vaio and the computer restarted itself. when i went to log back into my computer, it was a vicious circle of loading and windows not shutting down properly. i got to the viao recovery center but when i went to factory reset it would not do it. any help?

i have just got rid of my 2008 sony it was a nightmare to be honest. i would save what you can and buy another brand.
