USB stick nightmare

Hi,

I have a Philips usb storage stick....I think its about 80mb. The usb stick was working fine until a couple of weeks ago but now everytime I go to use it all that comes up on the screen is that it has to be formatted and thats the only option that I m given. The only things I ve done recently that might affect it is that I have updated my internet security and installed microsoft word after the 60 trail ran out. The usb was working up until this point. I have files I really need on this stick so if someone could help fix it I would be sooooooooooooooooo happy. Thanks.
