My iPod Touch Won't Turn On?

My ipod turned off because it died, so i plugged it in and left it for a little. Then, when i pressed the home button to turn it on again, it just went white. then it went gray, and now it wont even turn off or on again, it just keeps turning white and gray. I've tried restarting it and everything, nothing's working. What's happening?:S
