Ipod touch 5th Generation

Help! My Ipod touch 5th generation isn't turning on! The sign that usually comes up when it needs charging (a battery sign on the screen) isn't even coming up! I've tried pressing the buttons and holding them down but it isn't working, just a black screen! Please help me and leave your suggestions Thanks! p.s i got the ipod for christmas 2012

What does it do it you make a connection with the USB cable?

Nothing, usually if it needs charging a red battery will come up. But nothing happens when i connect it! just a black screen!

Make certain your "hold" switch is not "on". If it is in the locked position, it wil not repsond to any input unless you unlock it.

Try that.
