Ipod Touch got wet

Hello,
I submerged the top of my Ipod Touch in about a half a cm of liquid and it will come on, but won't get past the apple screen. I tried to sync it and charge it, which seemed to make things worse, because prior to this it was coming and and I could use some apps.

Is it too late to save it?
