Why cant i connect to the internet?

Hello,
I have a dell desktop and when i plug in my modem cable to my computer it always says limited or no connectivity or just a red X. Its annoying and i really wish to fix it :(
Someone help me.

well do you have broad band or wireless connection if you have maybe its cos you haven't paid off your bill to what ever network your on if you have then contact your broad band and see what they can do that usually works but make sure you've set it up correctly first

Try to use other network cable and test again, most likely the existing network cable is faulty.

The other option is try to connect to other computer's network adapter, sometimes the problem can due to faulty network adapter or incorrect network adapter driver too.
