Yellow flashing light on my Dell 1200 laptop

Hello,

My Dell Inspiron 1200 laptop has a solid green light on the bottom left front, which indicates the power is on and right beside it is a yellow flashing light.....it is always blinking....at one point a message came up on the screen saying something about the virtual memory is full or something....don't know if that has anything to do with the blinking yellow light.

My question is....."What is this light and what can I do to get rid of it...or it is harmless?"

My operating system is Windows XP

If the right light is always flashing amber (even when you have charged the PC for 3-4 hours) it probably indicates that the battery is failing.


Copied straight from the manual:
the left light:
Turns on when you turn on the computer or pulses when the computer is in a power management mode

the right light:
If the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, the light operates as follows:
" Solid green: The battery is charging.
- Off: The battery is adequately charged, the computer is turned off, or no battery is installed.
" Rapidly flashing green: An error has occurred regarding the battery.

If the computer is running on a battery, the light operates as follows:
" Off: The battery is discharging normally with use.
" Flashing amber: The battery charge is low

can the laptop still operate without the battery and just work off of the electrical line?

I have on of those small Acer computers and when I plug it in to an outlet, after more than 4 hours, the amber/reddish light is still flashing on and off, on and off. For some reason it won't fully charge and appear green. Does that mean that my battery is a little under the weather or something?? I'm not exactly a genius when it comes to computers so could someone please help! Anyone have the same problem?

(Just to clarify right away, I'm using a Dell Inspiron B130 PC Notebook.)
Yesterday when I booted up my computer, one of the four normally green lights at the bottom of my computer (below the keyboard) started flashing red/orange at me. Since the computer didn't give me any error messages, I figured it was something I did shutting down or starting up, so I re-started and the problem seemed to go away, as the light went back to green.

However, today, I've been using the computer and surfing the internet for over an hour and the light started up again a few minutes ago, seemingly out of nowhere. I haven't done anything differently and it still won't give m...

Hoping someone can help:

My ASUS A6403KM notebook does not power up. When I turn the power on the lights come on for quick second and then automatically shuts down. Ive tried taking the battery out and then turning on same thing happens. Ive also tried taking battery out and mains and pressing power button 3 times (as per ASUS support center advice) and replugging in mains power and still same problem. ASUS service centre suggested montherboard needs complete removal (he is 99% sure did not open the laptop or anything! - very pricy this option). Im hoping someone can offer some alternative advice on what they believe the cause is or how I can reticify the...

Airtel braodband connection not working

Hello,
I took a Airtel broadband connection couple of days back. The router settings and the network connections(IP address) have been set. The LAN icon shows that its connected but when I try to open a website it says "Page cannot be displayed" this happens in IE and Firefox. The service people could not figure out what is wrong. I'm using Laptop Compaq nx6320. The router and the phone connections are working fine. could there be a problem in the hardware? I have no idea what to do. Can someone please help me.

Hello,i need help.my acer extensa 5630ez wont turn on.i tried charging it for hours.it still wont turn on.when its plugged in, the battery led light turns on.i press the ON button, the light goes out for a while and goes back on.My Laptop wont turn on!.so, I tried to remove the charger, the light turns on.i press the button once nothing happens, I press it again and again, then the battery led light flashes.pls help me.i dont know whats wrong.tnx SY

Hello,

I have a Compaq Presario F500 running on Windows Vista. I could able to connect it with the wireless internet until this morning! Now, no bones. I have no wireless network available according to my computer. Even though, I am in the same room as earlier. I am using the same router and my family is able to connect the same wireless internet.

I have already tried troubleshooting which suggested me to update my system. I did that, but still facing the same problem. I thought the wireless switch is turned off! But, no. I have flipped that puppy at least 10 time and the light stays orange. It doesn't tell me WLAN on or off.
