Screen flashes white for a split second

Hello,
i have a dell inspiron 1520 and when i turn my laptop on about 2-3 seconds later it flashes white, then goes blank again, i have replaced the inverter but no luck!

Any ideas?

hey nesta77 thanks for the links, but i think my problem is slightly different to the ones you have given me, i dont get to the option of booting in safe mode, it literally flashes white and remains blank, ive put a light to it and theres nothing there. all the lights remain on, and i can attach it to another monitor.
Anything else i can try mate?
