Ipod not recognised anywhere on my computer

I have an ipod nano 5th gen and it is not being recognised by itunes, windows (computer), anywhere. I have followed all instructions on apple website but this doesn't help as the driver isn't even showing up. Not for apple ipod, not for mass storage, not even unidentified driver... literally nothing. I am stumped and getting very frustrated. can anyone help me?

Hi there,

It might be that the USB port is not working because its drives needs to be updated, please confirm it by getting to the Device Manager.
