'No sound device found' error message

Hello,
I have formatted my HP pavilion dv2000 and reinstalled windows XP and now I am not able to play any sound. The system gives an error 'No sound device found'. SATA was enabled on my pc earlier and I had to disable it to load windows again, could this be the reson. Also I am not able to get to the advanced settings in my bios settings. theres no tab fo radvanced settig sin bios settings. Kindly help
