I need help with my first ipod

Hello,
i got a brand new ipod, and it is my first one, and when i plug it into the computer with the itunes on, nothing happens. My ipod page wont pop up so i can't sync anything. what can i do to make my ipod page to pop up. I need help. I dont know what to do with my new and first ipod!!!!! HELP PLEASE

Hi, the first step is to check out if your Usb ports are working properly, then check out if the problem is due to the cable or the port of the Ipod.
For the first case reinstall drivers and test again.
For the second case ,just check out connectivity with another cable(if you have a spare one).

I checked the usb ports and all connectivity. all there is displaying on the screen is an image of a computer when it is plugged in. The computer doesn't recogniize it.
