Dell inspiron 1721 power problem

Hello,
My Dell inspiron 1721 won't power up. Isn't the power source or battery. Dell media direct button will pull up pics videos ect. Thanks for any ideas u may have.

You mean to say that your screen which has no display ?is totally black?More information please.
