Help with External Hard Drive

Hello,

I recently bought a Western Digital Essential Hard Drive 640 GB and i am currently running Windows Vista Home Basic SP1 and i plug it in with the USB to the computer and it doesn't detect the external hard drive on it. Do u know what the problem is?

hi,
it may be that it is wrongly connected, try to connect it through other ports
try to connect it to another computer to see if it detects the HDD
