Is your sound card on board or a separate pci card? If you know the manufacturer of the board, you MIGHT be able to find the drivers for the hardware there. I am unsure of your technical knowledge, so I will briefly state that a driver is what tells your operating system (OS) how to handle the hardware. Without the drivers, the hardware is useless. Given that the machine in question is powered by a P3, you may have to do some real digging via google or yahoo to find it.
For the sake of help, without at least the manufacturer of the sound card in question, I don't have much help for you.

Thank you for your response. I'm honestly not sure whether my sound card is on board or not. I don't have very much technical knowledge. So maybe I will have to do major digging as you suggested. I've tried to get ahold of the guy who installed it but that seems to be a dead end due to no response. Well thanks for your time.
