Toshiba Satellite L300 shuts down unexpectedl

Hello,
My Toshiba Laptop (L300 series) Shuts down unexpectedly. Is there something that can be done to avoid this and what is the reason for it?

How does the computer shut down? very quickly or in some seconds? does windows prevent you?
maybe it's because of an overheating, then place it in a cooler place, or pick up the computer with some books ^^.
