Gateway SA1 not starting properly
Closed
Hello,
I have a 3 year old gateway m-series (SA1) that has been running fine. I haven't used my laptop for about 2 weeks and when I went to go use it there were some issues. The computer started up fine and went to the login in screen, I entered my password and it logged in. Once logged in, it normally loads all of the start up programs, but now it loads the volume, wifi signal, and power battery icon. It is stuck with a "thinking arrow" and not properly loading all of the other programs and I cannot even restart the computer.
Thank you.

Hello,
Try this 1
1) When you switch ON your laptop, start tapping the "F8" key to get
"Windows Advanced Options"( if boot menu appears, press "Esc" key and keep
tapping the F8 key)
2) Select "Safe Mode"
3) Click on Start --> Run --> Type --> msconfig and press Enter.
( If you are using Windows Vista or 7 then click on Start --> In search box, type
msconfig and press Enter.)
"System Configuration Utility" will be opened.
In "General" tab --> Select the option "Selective Startup" --> Uncheck the
check box for Process SYSTEM.INI File, Process WIN.INI File and Load Startup
Items. So only "Load System Services" and "Use Original BOOT.INI" options
are selected.
4) Now click on "Services" tab --> Check the checkbox "Hide All Microsoft Services"
--> Now click on "Disable All" --> Click on "OK" button and restart your PC.
5) Log into your window normally and if a window appears regarding the changes
that you have made, check the checkbox "Don't show this message or launch the
System Configuration Utility when Windows start" and click on OK.
If you have successfully started your windows normally then follow the step 1
and enable your serivces in "Services" tab and startup items in "Startup" tab one
by one.
Good Luck
