Outlook 2007 get hung up in the outbox

Hello,

I use verizon fios and when sending emails they get hung up in the out box and do not go anywhere. Maybe the next day when I power up they MIGHT go, or maybe one. so very frustrating!!!!. Thanks in advance for help
