Hello,

Can someone please help me? I won a Compaq laptop running Vista. I never had a problem getting on my wireless internet until the last few days. I've tried rebooting the Modem/Router, I have my settings to auto detect, I've tried turing my firewall on and off. I only have Internet Explorer- no firefox etc. I have 2 laptops and the Acer (also running Vista) connects just fine; They are LITERALLY sitting right next to each other. I have no idea how to fix this and it's driving me nuts. Can someone please help? I'm not the best at technical things, my boyfriend is and he can't even figure it out =(.

Thank you for any input in advance!

option 1:

Is you wireless drivers working fine?

Go to run and type

devmgmt.msc and click ok

Check network adapters-wireless drivers.Do you find any yellow mark?

Option 2:

Did you check if your IE works in safemode with networking?

Option 3:

Try disabling your antivirus and check

Option 4:

download this first

https://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/tdsskiller.zip

Extract and run it..

After this download malwarebytes and do a full scan

https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/4621-malwarebytes-anti-malware/

Remove infections and run malwarebytes once again till the PC is clean

Let me know after this

Okay- I uninstalled the driver and went here to download the driver again.... although when i tried to download it, "internet explorer cannot display the webpage". Here is where i was: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-62508-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=2093&product=3747169&sw_lang=

Also, i've been using another laptop in the house, an Acer. Not sure if it has anything to do with it being a different brand computer while trying to access the above site.... probably not, but figured wouldnt hurt to mention.

The product number is Compaq Presario A940NR (which is also what i entered into the site above- not sure if it kept my entries or not)

Thanks!
