itunes not detecting ipod Closed

Question

Hello, my ipod nano is plugged in to my usb, charging and coming up on my desktop and in finder, but it does not come up in Itunes on the left side like it's supposed to. i've tried restarting everything multiple times and downloaded the newest version of itunes. help!



Configuration: Mac OS X / Safari 533.22.3

Same thing happened to me but i fixed it.  This is what worked for me 
1. type services in the start menu then opened 
2. scroll down to where it says ipod
3. right click and press properties
4. change start up type to automatic
