I pod touch will not charge or turn on

hi i have an i pod touch 8g im having trobel tring toget it to charge and turn on i have coneted it to a copel of difrent power sauses it dose light up with battrey simbol but when i tryed to do the hold down power and middel button i cant get the appel symbol tebatrey sim coms back on screen for a sec then goes then after holding for a littel bit it comes back again and then goes when i plug it in to my comp it donent show on comp that it is coneted would apprecate aney imput
