I have tried installing new drivers, uninstalled the conexant high definition smart audio HD2 and there is none. When I go to device manager and right click on
sound, video and game controlers there is no audio output device listed so I need to know how to install a new one or re-install the old one. When I try to install new drivers it comes up as no audio output device is installed. Any suggestions would be
apriceated.

Don't forget that when you go to device manager, to see the audio, you must expand, sound, video and game controller to see it. (Click on the + sign)

Yes in device manager I have expanded the sound device + sign and my audio device is not shown, I have also tried to down load the correct driver and it says
down load fail no device found. Thanks for all your help I will keep trying or might buy a new laptop as this HP is getting old.
