No connection to internet on desktop but have connection w/ wifi

Hello,
Good afternoon, plz help. I have recently installed total protection for my desktop computer, now the internet only works on my wifi laptop. what could be the problem?

I also did an IP config the ip address came back with a number starting with 169. ( this means the computer is not receiving valid ip address)i did a release and it came back with an eroor unable to contact server. ??

McAfee Total Protection? I suggest you call the McAfee phone number for help.
